Flying with a Dutch Touch

KLM: well-known for intercontinental travel
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is known for the blue aircraft. It is the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. Founded in 1919, KLM connects the Netherlands with more than 150 destinations across the globe.
KLM offers travellers from outside the Netherlands to reach destinations which can’t be reached with a direct flight via Amsterdam. In my opinion it is a very friendly company for travelling with a family.

Customer support via WhatsApp is excellent. Our return flight was suddenly cancelled the day before departure, but rebooking another flight home was easy.
Keep in mind that flights are often fully booked during the holiday season. We always book our seats in advance to make sure we can sit next to each other on the plane. Years ago, we were placed on standby and were only allowed to board at the very last moment. It is not something we want to experience again, even if you may be entitled to compensation. Intercontinental travel is exhausting, and being stuck at an airport is the last thing you want.

Transavia: short trips and mostly European getaways
Transavia is KLM’s low-cost sister airline and a favorite among travelers who love spontaneous getaways. The airline is well known for its green branding and can be compared to easyJet, with similar prices and destinations. Transavia mainly flies to sunny holiday destinations and popular ski resorts.
You get what you pay for: the airline is convenient and basic, just like many other budget airlines. Keep in mind that ticket prices can rise significantly during the holiday season, as many families travel during school holidays.
